• We, the Rebellious Subjects Theatre, refuse to philander our energy on any unworthy endeavor.
• We are dedicated to democratizing theatrical performance through site-specific classical work.
• We demand the highest standard of artistic vision from our productions, maintaining the conviction that artists make work for the consumption of any audience, regardless of financial solvency or affluence in the traditions of the medium.
• We surrender ourselves to a method of creativity which challenges us to work anytime, anywhere and under any conditions.
• We act on these principles because we believe in the power of great theatre to question and change.
• We focus our efforts on classical work because recognize that classical theatre was meant to be spoken - not read - that playwrights’ words are meant to be breathed into life by performance.
• We are interested in the marriage of the old and the new, with coupling the enduring power of tradition and the inciting edge of innovation.
• We believe that these tenets are at the heart of our ensemble and strike the very pulse of live performance.
